Should I start at the beginning or the end? Both are just as much fun. Before you is a beautiful mound of wool. It is the end product, the amazing gift of fleece that the sheep give each year in June when they are sheared.
At the beginning, there is Titania. She is the Queen, our oldest ewe, and most of the sheep are related to her. Over the years our small herd has grown to include many of the characters from A Midsummer Night's Dream (along with a few non cast members like sweet little Mistletoe, and our lovely "Nelly the Goat"), all the way down to Pease-Blossom who had her first little one this year.
This wool is from Titania (TT for short) and is just at the beginning of the process of becoming fairies. First it is cleaned and carded, then twisted into yarn, felted, or stuffed to make a head or just sewn to become a small wig.
What ever it is, it is just plain fun to work with both at the beginning and the end.
