Audio books and blanket forts... some of our favorite ingredients for an afternoon filled with adventure, new worlds to explore, and a lot of imagination.
We love audio books for so many reasons. They're great for car rides, wonderful for rainy days inside, and amazing for those times when mom or dad needs a moment to do some outlandish thing like... take a shower, or make dinner.
Because they don't come with pictures, kids have to imagine their own version of the stories, which can be a great opportunity for creative time... drawing, painting, building Rube Goldberg contraptions... or whatever else their little hands can get into!
Your local library will usually have a good selection (and they can often order what they don't have!), or if you'd like add to your own collection, you can find a few that we love here.
One last ingredient that makes audio books an undeniable success?... a batch of fresh baked cookies, like chocolate chip... or oatmeal raisin... or peanut butter... or triple chocolate... or white chocolate cranberry... or pretty much anything where butter, sugar, and flour are involved...
