{Porcupine signs}
Even when you don't see them, animals leave their sings and signatures all around. We went on a hike recently and didn't see a single creature (except for a hawk that flew right over our heads!) but we knew they were all around us by the clues they left... we just had to look closely.
{Multiple sets of older tracks... looks like one might be a mountain lion... or at least we liked thinking so!}
{Something had fun chewing on this...}
{Coyote scat}
{More coyote scat}
{Elk scat}
{Partially blown away raccoon track... we think...}
{What do you think might like to live in there?}
This book was great help in identifying the signs we came across, and these are full of wonderful information too.
Even though we didn't see a coyote or elk or porcupine face to face, we had just as much... or maybe more... fun playing detective!
Do you see animal signs regularly where you live, and if so what are some of your favorite finds?
