... out in the invisible school there are no walls or doors...

... there are no desks or chalk boards...

... recess and class time trade places and are often confused for one another...

... books change shape and size, sometimes small and dense, sometimes large and expansive...

... and lessons are taught by teachers and students alike, guiding each other through play, intuition and careful observation.

There are many maps that lead to the invisible school, but one of our favorites by far is Coyote's Guide to Connecting with Nature by Jon Young,  Ellen Haas and Evan McGown.  A thoughtful and and indispensable tool, it's not a rule book or a step-by-step guide to improving nature awareness, but rather, a gentle mentor that encourages you to follow your own path of discovery, observation and wonder...
