Every morning there seem to be a few more birds outside the window singing... and each day warmth is creeping back in slowly but surely... solid signs to us that spring is marching back in.
With that in mind, we thought a nice way to celebrate the coming season would be to decorate eggs with spring constellations!
Taking cues from our favorite pocket guide to constellations, we drew spring stars on white eggs with a clear wax crayon (they come with egg dying kits like this) and then dipped them in blue dye to reveal what we had drawn.
Not only were they a lot of fun to make, but each egg gave us the opportunity to discuss each constellation and the history and myths associated with it. It was so much fun in fact that we also decided to try this activity with...
... geography!
And even after the eggs come down off of our spring tree, they will be a great reference to revisit.
Happy studies!
