Strong and sturdy this wonderful plant grows around rocks and boulders...
... offers a healing hand to stomach aches and colds...
... and reaches up to the sun while mimicking its daily transformation.
First an orange-red ball of buds waiting to burst in June, it transforms into a glowing yellow orb that eventually fades slowly into orange once again before disappearing. Eriogonum Umbellatum (also known as sulphur flowered buckwheat) is native to western North America, and can be found from California to Colorado to Central Canada.
