With summer quickly approaching, months full of fun and adventure... but also lots of free time to figure out what to do with... we thought a summer adventure map would be just what the doctor ordered!
Made from a few fabric scraps we had around the house and modeled after some of our favorite old maps, we cut out shapes using various fabrics and glued them to a large blue rectangle with fabric glue (you can sew later if you like but the glue is great for little hands to help with).
We used iron-transfers printed right on our home printer to add the various regions of our summer world like...
... mountains, forests, oceans and stars along with all the space in between...
... and we filled up our idea bag with every fun adventure we could think of. This is one of the most exciting parts of the project. Imaging great expeditions and activities is perhaps one of the best pastimes... ever.
As the summer goes on we will add images and drawings of everything we experience to the maps...
... which we hope will be quite full by the time September rolls around.
