Vic came into my life with the sheep. At first I wasn’t sure I needed another dog but her owner knew she belonged to me and kept stopping by telling me she needed a home that she had gone "soft". Sheep dogs are very sensitive and just one unpleasant event with their owner makes them shut down and she had shut down for him, so Vic finally came into my life.
She had never been in a house before but in she came, first she stayed with her basket then discovering more of the house at her own pace. She now sleeps at the foot of our bed.
She is an extension of my thought, she watches me at all times and when I am in need of help she is there. The sheep dog is one of man’s oldest companions they have worked together for centuries. Vic is one of the finest sheep dogs, if there is a storm she goes out, way out, around the back of the sheep and then drives them right into the barn and into their stalls. She is not done until all are in their right place.
Here we are, taking a break from the farm, up in the mountains going for a walk where she can just enjoy, there are no sheep near by.
We all need a break sometime...
