I began this weeks' book search with classic fairy tales in mind, specifically by one of the all time greats, Hans Christian Andersen...
...his tales of whimsy and life lessons never loose their relevance, yet I had the hardest time finding an edition that matched the wonder and beauty of of Andersen's remarkable stories...
...that is until I came across Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales, selected and illustrated by Lizbeth Zwerger . The combination of modern and classic style in the illustrations brings the timeless tales of The Princess and the Pea, and The Emperor's New Cloths as well as other lesser known H.C. Andersen tales to the present in whimsical and idyllic fashion...
... beginning with the dreamy tale of The Sandman, Zwerger leads the reader through the stories we all know by heart, and others I am just beginning to fall in love with...
... and the journey finally ends with the first fairytale that ever truly touched my heart, The Little Match Girl.
Take a trip back, and forward at the same time with this wonderful edition of Hans Christian Andersen's enchanting fairytales...
