Just recently I saw something that made me run for my camera... snowflakes falling on my horse Rocky's mane...
... his dark bay coat made for the perfect contrast to make the shapes of the snowflakes really stand out...
... showing off their every detail...
... and creating a great opportunity to dive into the world of the snowflake.
Full of both detail and simplicity, the snowflake is a fascinating and uniquely beautiful part of our natural world. Snowflakes very greatly depending on location and weather conditions, and are full of wonderful information, there is so much to learn!
Here are a few of my favorite facts... Mr. Wilson A. Bentley captured and studied over 5,000 snowflakes in his lifetime to prove his idea that "no two snowflakes are alike," the largest snowflake ever found measured nearly 15", snowflakes under a microscope are incredible... and so much more!
Maybe if I take my microscope outside I can see them up close too...
