By the time February rolls around each year I find myself beginning to yearn for springtime, and those lovely warm and sunny days full of birds chirping and building nests. Unfortunately those days are still a ways off (at least for me).
Luckily I have a few tricks up my sleeve in the form of these two lovely books, which are full of wonderful information...
beautiful, detailed illustrations...
and the sweet sound birds chirping!
The Backyard Birdsong Guide (Eastern and Central North America, and Western North America) by Donald Kroodsma is truly a joy to the eyes and especially the ears in these cold and dreary months...try number 77 (pictured above), what a great way to start the day!
Two lucky winners will have a chance to win a copy of either the Eastern or Western versions of this book, simply leave a comment on this post (including your preference for East or West) by Wednesday February 16th. The winners will be chosen by random number and announced Thursday February 17th.
Good Luck!
And the winners are!:

"WESTSIDE....I was looking through a kids gardening book and saw a squash cut in half with seeds in it hanging from a tree and thought how wonderful this would be to hang out since it is national feed the birds month.... I think!"
Kayte who said:
"It looks like we fall on the Eastern one. My five year old bird watcher would flip out. She is all ready for the annual Backyard Bird Count which is next weekend!"
Thanks for participating everyone!
