For many of us it is the coldest time of our year, filled with dark nights and gray days. But once in a while the we get the wonderful surprise of a beautiful sunny day, and a few lovely gifts along with it...
... like the lively and cheery tune of the House Finch!
There is just something about his presence that makes me smile. Perhaps it is his bright red breast and the persistence of his song (even in 10 degree weather!).
Or perhaps it is the fact that this little guy seemed to follow me everywhere, as if to say "hello world, I am here, listen to me sing!"
