Spring isn't here yet, but we can start getting ready for it by...
... noting the changes in weather and rainfall...
... making garden plans and calendars...
... pulling out seeds from their winter hiding places...
... and making them nice cozy pots...
... filled with rich soil and beautiful compost...
... to nurture them into the coming season.
In the past we've started our seedlings in egg shells, in seed tape, and now this year, we found this amazing little wooden pot maker that makes easy and fast pots out of whatever paper you have laying around.
I also made printable Garden Calendars and Garden Note sheets (pictured above and for download below) to help first time little gardeners through the early stages of gardening where things happen slowly and mysteriously underground. They are sized to fit an 8.5" x 11" standard piece of paper and are generic in the sense that you can use them for any month, any year. We like to glue the seeds we start in the circles of the calendar days we started them on, and then fill the rest of the dates in with pictures of the day's weather. The note sheets are great for keeping track of all other seasonal observations.
