After many weeks of planning and waiting for the ground to thaw out the perfect day arrived (well at least that's what the weather man predicted), it was time to build some raised garden beds for the farm. Unfortunately, the weather man was a little off the mark and instead of 60+ and sunny, it was 45 degrees, damp and looking like it would rain any minute...
We decided to build anyway, as long as the weather would permit. But just as everything was cut to specifications and ready to assemble...
... the rain moved in...
... after moving everything into the warmth and level ground of the garage, it was time to assemble the many parts and pieces. First by screwing the 2X6 planks with 3" wood screws into the 4X4 posts, and then by screwing the adjoining 2X6's together. We did this all the way around with the first row, and then with the second. By the end each corner should look something like the bottom right hand photo. Before we knew it we had one box complete, and were ready to start on the others.
All in all the project was pretty straight forward and easy. A few cedar 4X4's and pine 2X6's, screws, a saw, a drill and some man power were all it took to put together the beginning of a wonderful adventure...
One of these days this coming week the sun will come out and we will get to planting the wonderful vegetable garden and secret garden seed kits...
Come back next week to see the final results!
