The bull snake is back! At least once a year our paths cross and once is enough... A couple of years ago I wrote that I might not be as afraid of this bull snake if I could see his face as close up as the camera does.
Here it is two years later and I am still afraid of the snake......
But it seems, I might be the only one on the farm who is. To my surprise a ladybug was getting a ride on it's back, he or she did not think the snake was scary...
The wild hare were not afraid of the snake, they came up to it, as if to say "hi" for the first time this year...
... and then followed as it moved away. I will keep trying, to not be afraid, but I will keep chanting when I go out in the fields, "dear snakes you are welcome to all on this land, just please stay out of my sight". I will also walk with my walking stick and tap it on the ground with each step I take, in hopes of scaring the snakes away... Shepherds spend a lot of time in the fields!
What else is out there under and about my feet?
To those who scare us, they keep up on our toes.....
