Last week I wrote about Abby, now it is Sky's turn. Sky was the youngest in the herd until Abby's son Iggy was born. When we bought Abby she was pregnant but the foal did not develop so Abby came into our lives alone. The breeder felt so bad for us that they offered to give us a foal from another mare for free!
Sky arrived at three months old, the breeders had re-bred her mom so she had to move on. Sky started her life with us in the care of a very old and wonderful pony Cindy. I will have to tell you her story sometime, she was our miracle pony who appear out of nowhere and into our lives. It was when she passed that Sky joined Abby. They shared a year together with Abby in charge, then at three, Sky became the lead mare to Abby's surprise.
She now watches over Abby, always staying close, keeping her moving, which is good for her feet, starting a race, or playing a game to keep her entertained. She herds Abby when she senses danger, when storms approach she packs her into the shed blocking the entrance so she cannot get out until the storm is over.
