Fall has yet to officially arrive, but signs of its approach are quickly becoming visible. Over the Labor Day weekend I spent some time by a river where this was quite apparent in the abundance of wild seeds and berries ready for harvesting.
Some appeared to already have been gathered up, like these small white berries...
... and others like the wild Rose Hips popped with bright red color in abundance...
... while nearby small green berries (or seeds) joined in for contrast.
My favorite though had to be these tiny violet wonders, bright and beautiful all the way around, the hillsides were just covered. Of course I did not eat any of these, but I'm sure my wild friends have and will be enjoying these delicious fruits of the season for months to come.
