Autumn has a gentle beauty all of it's own, even the animals feel it. The horses and sheep are quiet... it is almost like they are conserving their energy for the cold of winter, while still savoring the warmth. Grasses shimmer in the sunlight, their seeds waiting to be tucked into the earth.
Seed pods left by summers flowers are stiffly standing, visible to the birds, as if to say, please come alight and feast.
Berries hidden just beneath the leaves beckon bear and coyote to a fall banquet.
And the wild lantern plant and it's small seed pod resembling a Lateran, glows in the fall light. It found it's way into the native garden all in it's own much to my delight. They are harvested each fall for fairy lanterns, that are just right.
While leaves softly quake in the breeze, falling to the ground only to be caught once more upward bound, sometimes dancing in the wind as we wander through the fall.
To wandering and the sound of leaves under your feet...
