As a child, this time of year was mysterious, magical and glowing. From dawn until dark and into the moonlight, everything was aglow.
The changing colors of the autumn leaves provided the most beautiful filter for the declining angle of the suns golden rays. Autumn sunsets coated the sky in dreamy dusty tones of warm yellows, golds and pinks. When the glow of the sun had vanished for the day, autumn rituals brought the light of the moon from the edges of the universe into the glow of homemade lanterns bobbing along to the stride of little legs.
This pulling in of light from the outer reaches had in internal effect as well. This type of glow inspired a different kind of light, as if the warmth of the sun, the cool glow of the moon combined, were then matched by an inner light. All these were wrapped up in the precision, excitement and patience of a few days crafting a small tea light lantern. Simple joys, simple actions, all glowing with the warmth and hope for inner light to shine through the darkness of the coming winter months.
Wishing you light where ever you are today...
