This dear, sweet old goat greets me each morning if the sun is out, otherwise she stays tucked under a horse blanket in a deep bed of straw and hay. The nights have been quite cold lately and it's hard on this old goat. I think she is 14 to 15 years old, maybe more and has just recovered from not being able to walk. Such a life she is having, full of ups and downs, but mostly full of mischief! She is a goat, after all.
Before I cover her with blankets at night, I first but on two layers of vests, the first is a red polar fleece and the second one down. Then she is covered with a small polar fleece blanket which the horses love to remove in the dead of night. I will find it in with Iggy looking as if he has had a grand time shaking it up and down, the holes are from him. Flo will just tuck it into a corner. I think she comes over to them if she is too warm and they help her out.
If the sun is out, she will also ventures from the barn to welcome me with her tongue moving it quickly in and out letting me know she is wanting her morning grain. If I do not feed her she will follow me, just inches from behind, until her breakfast is served !
To old goats and to mischief and fun no matter the age we find ourselves in.
