I love postcards, a lot. I love the accessibility of them, the feel of them, the size, the incredible variety. They are one of those simple things that never goes out of style, never gets old. I mean really, is there anything better than getting a postcard for some far away place in the mail? It's the next best thing to a telegram. Actually, it might be better, postcards have pictures.
Small snapshots of a life and time so far from your own, yet so undeniably close, in fact they're right in your hand, up on the wall, secured tightly to the fridge by a magnet. Postcards are the cheapest passport and plane ticket you can buy. Which is why I am acquiring quite the collection. From fifty years ago, to the town I drove through last week, each is treasure to me.
I also like the idea of turning your own photos into postcards. It's easy, just print them out, glue a piece white paper to the back and draw a vertical line down the center... instant postcard.
These photos above are my postcards from my trip to Spain. Barcelona, Figueres, and finally Girona. Three cities near and dear to my heart. Each image is a special moment I want to remember. From the bustle of La Rambla in Barcelona, to one of the best crepes I ever eat, to the strange and quirky world of Salvador Dali, to the lovely view from my friends apartment, these are the memories I will be taking with me always.
