Finally, late last night after much dancing the rain came... and when I took a walk around my neighborhood this afternoon it was as if the earth was saying thank you.
Water droplets glistened from every angle...
... every color on every flower appeared bolder and brighter against the gray of the sky...
... and the every creature that had a voice was out putting on a show. This sweet little Meadow Lark followed me around through out my walk, with the crickets chirping along like back-up singers.
Even the prickly yucca seemed to drink in all the lovely moisture.
I particularly loved this bush on the side of the trail. The leaves must be waxy, because strewn through out, like gem stones in a treasure chest, water droplets big and small caught the light and the reflected the intense green of the beautiful foliage back out into the gray of the world surrounding it.
The sun is due to return by morning, but in the mean time I am thankful for these few brief hours of droplet magic...
