Merry just received a bath, soap suds and all, she was gleaming. I turned to go into the barn to get a scraper that helps with removing excess water and came back to find her covered in mud, she had seen her opportunity and rolled.
But that just wasn't enough. As soon as I turned her loose she just had to roll one more time. Nose to the earth, front knee bending, they always smell the earth before dropping down.
The opposite back leg comes up under her tummy, and she is down. You can see the imprint from her first roll. Her head and neck stretched forward and onto her side she goes, then her back, just rubbing in the dirt.
I know it must feel good or she would not be rolling. She has no care for how clean she was, rolling is just too much fun on a hot day!
So on and on she goes, rolling side to side...
... then she is up in a blink of the eye, shaking off what dirt she can, swishing her tail in horse time.
I think Flo got a little jealous of Merry's roll and wanted in on it too, but Merry defended her spot and told her to find one of her own.
Did you know ponies run the show? Even though the are small, they are mighty in spirit and the other horses now it.
