Seeing as we just made a bag to put treats in, it seemed only fitting. . .
. . . that we should make. . .
. . . a few treats of our own. And since we love the stars ever so much. . .
. . . we decided to give them away this year.
Perfect companions to our honey popcorn planets. . .
. . . not to mention, all of the rest of this homemade goodness:

4. Mushroom Meringues via Griottes (translated from french)
- 4 whites from large eggs
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (or 1/2 teaspoon almond extract)
- Parchment paper, string, and tags (for packaging)
Separate the egg whites from the yolks of 4 room temperature eggs. Beat with an electric mixer until frothy and then add cream of tartar. Beat until the mixture becomes stiff and slowly add the sugar. Fold in the vanilla or almond extract and transfer mixture into a large freezer bag and snip off the tip to make it into a piping bag (or use a piping bag if you have one).
On a parchment lined baking sheet make small dots about 3/4" in diameter and fill the pan leaving about 3/4" of space between dots. With a bamboo skewer pull the dot into a star by "drawing" a star shape. You could also simply pipe a star shape, but this requires a piping bag and tip.
Place in an oven preheated to 375 and then turn off the oven. Leave in closed oven for 5 hours or so until the meringues are completely dry and melt in your mouth.
Make small tags with constellation names and drawings on them. Pack enough stars in a bundle to make the constellation pictured on the tag and share them with all of your beautiful ghosts and ghouls.
