Unlikely. It's One of my favorite words. Maybe a strange choice, but I'm an eternal optimist. For me, the word unlikely is so full of possibilities, curiosity and that underdog kind of spirit, I can't help but get excited about it. So when I fist read a description of Flora & Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo I immediately wanted to know more.
Unlikely is the key word of this delightful, witty, and wonderfully "illuminated" chapter book for young readers. It's unlikely a squirrel would get sucked up into a vacuum. It's
Unlikely it would survive the experience. And even more so that it would come out of the ordeal with super human. . . Errr. . . squirrel strength.
But that's the wholly wonderful truth of this fun and smartly written story. Together with his rescuer, Ulysses and Flora are unstoppable, and their friendship unbreakable.
Filled with childhood villeins and plot twists, all brought to life with aptly drawn comic book style graphics, Flora & Ulysses is the perfect way to close out a summer of reading under the trees.
Which is why we think you should have a copy! Not only that, but we just happen to have a completely adorable plush Hansa Squirrel that bares an uncanny resemblance to our dear friend Ulysses. Paired with the book, we are quite sure you will be unstoppable too.
To enter to win a copy of Flora & Ulysses along with a plush Hansa Squirrel simply leave a comment on this post by 8am MST Thursday August 14th. The winner will be chosen by random number and announced later that day.
And the winner is... Betts who wrote:
"What a great package some child is going to love this."
Thank you to everyone who participated!
