This time of year, when seasonal changes are in full swing, always brings me back to an old favorite.
Drifting between black and white hand-drawn sketches, and vivid full color illustrations, all the elements that bring a year together are sweetly displayed in one beautiful, heirloom book.
As a child I would sit on the floor in my Mother's toy store and leaf through the pages, ever so careful not to bend or crease the paper.
The hours were always my favorite. I would imagine them life-sized and dancing through the store in swirls of seconds, minutes, and hours.
September was always my favorite month (my birthday is in September), but I thought I would give you all a peek at October. As the lovely and timeless Elsa Beskow so aptly points out, October is golden. Full of golden leaves crunching under your feet, and full of golden light, filling the air. If ever there was a book to teach us all how the year goes by, this is the one to do it.
Which is why one of you lovely readers should have a copy!
To enter to win a copy of Around The Year simply leave a comment on this post by 8am MST Thursday October 9th. The winner will be chosen by random number and announced later that day.
Good luck everyone!
