Living in an arid, high mountain desert climate can be a little brown this time of year. The hot dry days have let little room for lush green hillsides filled with wildflowers. But those of us that live here know this, so we look for color and beauty in other places. Which is why lichen, is one of my favorite things time of year. Colorful, textural, and begging for a closer look, lichen always has something to offer the curious explorer.
