With September just around the corner. . .
. . . we wanted to make something. . .
. . . that could capture the beauty of. . .
. . . summer flowers. . .
. . . and the playfulness. . .
. . . of summer days.
Botanical Bowling
Materials:
- Wooden Bowling Set
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Pencil
- Summer flowers and leaves
- Jojoba oil or water based sealant
Go on a nature walk with your kiddos and collect flowers and leaves from your neighborhood or nearby woods. Look up the flowers and leaves in your favorite botany book and take a moment to learn more about them.
Sketch the flowers and leaves on the pins. Once you have all of them down in pencil, grab your favorite paints and color them in.
Once the paint is dry, seal your pins with jojoba oil or a water based wood sealant.
When it's dark and stormy outside, play a game of botanical bowling on the carpet in your house and remember the joy of those lazy summer days. Bonus points can even be assigned to different flowers and leaves upping the score when they are knocked down!
Happy crafting!
