Reusable Cloth Lunch Bag and Matching Napkin
Materials:
- Scrap fabric
- Needle and Thread (or sewing machine)
- Rubber stamps (or you could make your own potato stamps)
- Fabric ink pad
Cut two pieces of fabric at 7" x 7-3/4". Then, cut one more piece of the same fabric at 14" x 29-3/4".
Sandwich the two smaller pieces together and, starting in the center of the longer side, begin sewing the bottom edge of the long side of the large piece to the base. Make sure to leave about 1/4" of un-sewn fabric at the start.
Slowly work your way around, snipping the corners as needed to allow the seams to lay flat (see image above). When you have made it all the way around, sew up the open center seam. If you'd like a little reinforcement you can sew a zigzag stitch over all of the seams.
With your bag still inside out, fold the top outward once and then once again and sew down to secure. Turn right side out. If you'd like more structure in the corners of the bag, you can add a line of top-stitching to each.
At this point you can either stamp directly on the bag or stamp on a patch and sew it to the bag.
To make the matching napkin, cut a piece of fabric 16" x 16". I left the edges frayed but then ran a zigzag stitch around them to make sure they wouldn't fray too far (but you could fold them over and sew them down if you prefer). Add another patch to the napkin in the same manner as you did for the lunch sack. If you'd like to make sure everything stays together, you can also add a fabric scrap ribbon to your water bottle.
Easily fits a lunchbox, a water bottle, and snacks.
