A whole new batch of school supplies means a whole new batch of things to keep track of. With this fun activity, we took the chore of labeling and turned it into a wonderful afternoon of family connection and creativity!
Using a DIY Stamp Kit from the shop. . .
. . . we tried our hands at making our own personalized stamp identity! This project was easy, fun and our little helpers loved putting their own personal stamp on just about everything ink would adhere to.
Going into the school year, a stamp identity is a great way to keep track of all the back-to-school supplies, plus it's way more fun than just writing your name on everything.
From notebooks to textbooks, to sweet little bookmarks, put your stamp of approval on all your classroom essentials!
Supplies:
- DIY Stamp Kit, Or a basic set of carving tools, graphite pencil, a piece of semi-soft rubber, and an ink pad.
Directions:
Pick a symbol that will serve as your stamp identity. Trace the symbol on a piece of velum paper. Rub the trace onto a piece of semi-soft rubber, and start carving! Remember, in order to make a positive imprint on a chosen surface, the negative space is what you are carving away. Once the outer area has been removed to reveal the stamp, press into an ink pad, stamp, and enjoy!
*Note: This project requires the use of sharp objects, and is recommended for children 10 years of age or older unless closely supervised by an adult. For this project I let my helpers pick out the shapes they wanted and then I did the carving.
